Villa Campolieto

Villa Campolieto

$0 per person

Villa Campolieto is located along Ercolano’s so-called “Golden Mile”, a luxurious street that is like a necklace encrusted with gorgeous villas, adorning the Neapolitan districts of San Giovanni a Teduccio and Barra, and the municipalities of San Giorgio a Cremano, Portici, Ercolano and Torre del Greco.

The 18th-century Villa Campolieto is one of these gemstones – the Rococo and Neoclassical “Vesuvian villas” that were built, along with their stunning gardens, by the Bourbon aristocracy.  Amongst the notable architects who designed the Vesuvian villas, Luigi Vanvitelli stands out not only as one of the authors of Villa Capolieto, between 1763 and 1773, but also for his masterpiece, the Royal Palace of Caserta.

The dome with its oval windows, the decorations inside, the large porch with round arches on the back of the villa in Ercolano are a token of the elegance and inestimable value of this prosperous road in Campania.
