Pio Monte della Misericordia
The Pio Monte della Misericordia is a monumental building located along the decumanus maximus of Naples and is one of the oldest secular institutions of the city. Caravaggio’s masterpiece “The seven works of mercy” can be admired above the main altar of the seventeenth century church. There is a particularly interesting collection of paintings dating from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century on display in the Quadreria which includes about 120 works by artists such as Luca Giordano, Mattia Preti and Francesco De Mura.
