Convento di San Domenico Maggiore

Together with the church of Chiesa di San Domenico Maggiore, the monastery forms a complex situated in the historic centre of Naples. It has been recently restored to its original appearance in the style of early 13th century architecture. It is now possible to admire the seventeenth century stuccoes and numerous furnishings including the Liturgical Machine for Forty Hours’ Devotion. The building has three floors: it is possible to visit the room where St Thomas Aquinas taught on the ground floor. The library is on the first floor and the two upper floors house the private rooms of the Dominican friars.
