The Museum and Chapel of Sansevero is one of the most popular and widely visited artistic and cultural sites in Naples. The chapel contains the Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sammartino, a marble sculpture portraying the dead Christ covered by a shroud. The brainchild of the fertile mind of Raimondo di Sangro, the chapel, which is now deconsecrated, is full of symbols linked to the free masons of which the prince himself was a Grand Master. The anatomic machines made in the mid-18th century by Giuseppe Salerno, a doctor from Palermo, are another interesting exhibit on display in the chapel.
