MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO DI BISACCIA
The Civic Museum of Bisaccia develops within the ground floor of the Ducal Castle and is divided into a chronological exhibition path horizontally along which the finds on display, owned by the state, coming from the excavations carried out on the hill of the Old Cemetery are exhibited. .
The aim of the exhibition is to reconstruct the history of Bisaccia in the protohistoric and archaic ages through the kits of the numerous tomb burials discovered in the well-known Irpinia archaeological site, making it easy for visitors to acquire and understand.
The large amount of materials acquired over many years of archaeological research has led to the choice of the most significant finds of the funeral furnishings of 60 tombs of the first and second Iron Age (late IX-VII century BC) consisting mainly of ceramic artefacts and objects of personal adornment for the first time presented, in definitive form, to the Italian public. To guide the visitor to the understanding of the finds, in addition to the necessary and exhaustive captions for each object, didactic and explanatory panels are placed inside the three exhibition rooms, while an animated 3D video illustrates the origin and use of the finds in the indigenous community exposed.
