Castel Sant’Elmo is a medieval castle and a superb example of sixteenth century military architecture. It is situated on the hill of Vomero in Naples, close to the Charterhouse (Certosa) of San Martino. The castle is home to Museo Napoli Novecento, a museum containing works of art related to the city of Naples. The itinerary concludes with a visit to the small church of Sant’Erasmo which has a floor made of terracotta and majolica tiles, typical of Neapolitan craftmanship.
