The highlight of the museum is the frescoed Tomb of the Diver (480-470 B.C.): this is a painted cist tomb, comprising four side slabs decorated with banqueting scenes.
The lid depicts a young man diving; the scene probably symbolises the transition to the world of the dead.
There are some extremely interesting finds from the archaic epoch (the terracotta statue depicting Zeus), and from the classical and Hellenistic age (the bronze statue of Marsyas the Silenus). The painted tombs section has a reconstruction of the chamber tomb of Agropoli, in which a man and a woman were buried, whose grave goods included a famous vase, the hydria made by Assteas depicting. the myth of Bellerophon
