The great wonders of the Parco Archeologico are the three Doric temples rising majestically on the plain overlooking the sea, which rank among some of the best preserved
of all antiquity: the Temple of Neptune, the so-called Basilica, and the so-called Temple of Ceres. The first two are in fact linked to the cult of the goddess Hera, and the third, situated in the north, to the cult of the goddess Athena. The fortified walls are among the best-preserved in the whole of Magna Graecia, running for almost 5 kilometres. In the area of the Roman city, in addition to the Capitolium, there are other significant remains: the Forum, the Amphitheatre, and the remains of many religious buildings. West of the temples runs the Via Sacra, the street where processions took place, whose route dates back to the Greek period.
