The plaster casts section comprises around a hundred Roman-age fragments, which are proof of the activity of workshops of sculptors in the Campo Flegrei in Roman times.
These casts are obtained directly from the originals of the most important Greek bronze sculptures of the classical age and used as models to make marble copies, which Roman aristocrats bought to decorate their villas and public buildings.
The Museum also has a reconstruction of the Sacellum of the Augustales, the monument for the imperial cult that stood in the Forum of Miseno: the pediment of the sanctuary clearly stands out with the marble statues of Vespasian and Titus and the bronze equestrian statue of Domitian/Nerva.
Another highlight of the Museum is the famous Nymphaeum of Punta Epitaffio: the statues of Ulysses (giving wine to Polyphemus), Baios, Dionysus and personages of the Imperial family decorated the aquatic triclinium (banqueting area) – which has been reconstructed – of a villa, now submerged as a result of bradyseism.
