The Napoli Novecento museum documents artistic production in Naples throughout the twentieth century. Paintings, sculptures and graphics are on display. The museum is housed in spaces in the upper Prison, and exhibits some 170 works made by 90 Neapolitan artists as well as by artists who, in various capacities, have been active in the city. The exhibition is divided into various sections: the ‘Secession of the twenty-three’ (1909), early Futurism in Naples (1910-1914), the Circumvisionists movement and later Futurism (1920s-1930s), and examples of artistic production in the post-Second World War period, from 1948 to 1958. We then move on to the sections devoted to the 1970s. The final section documents the activity of experimental artists of the 1980s. Exhibits include works by Carlo Alfano, Enrico Baj, Mathelda Balatresi, Renato Barisani, Nino Longobardi, Augusto Perez, Renato De Fusco, Mimmo Paladino.
