A fascinating tour in the "womb" of Naples, the historical centre, a patrimony under the tutelage of UNESCO, which has preserved the ancient greco-roman city plan: it is here that the pulse of the City is best felt, across the alleys and the artisan workshops, while the innumerable artistic marvels surprise you in the least expected places.
The journey of discovery of the city begins from the National Archaeological Museum to continue with the MADRE, the first museum for contemporary art located in the historical centre of a city, with its adjacent church of Santa Maria Donnaregina Vecchia, a prominent evidence of medieval times in Naples and remarkable testimony of architecture of the Gothic influence.
The Museo Diocesano stands in the Church of Donnaregina Nuova and contains works of great value as the Madonna with Child by Massimo Stanzione.
The tour concludes with the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro, adjoining the Cathedral of Naples, who holds the "most precious jewels of the world”, including the ancient reliquary of San Gennaro’s blood.
Archeology, contemporary art, tradition, devotion and anthropology intertwine themselves in a short but rich and varied itinerary, to discover the beauty and the roots of Naples.
